BEE Facilitation Centre: BEE Facilitation Center | Bureau of Energy Efficiency

Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has initiated a number of Energy Efficiency (EE) initiatives in the areas of household lighting, commercial buildings, standards and labelling of appliances, demand side management in agriculture/municipalities, SMEs and large industries. This includes initiating the development of energy consumption norms for industrial sub-sectors and capacity building of State Designated Agencies (SDAs), among others.

BEE has set up an online Facilitation Centre to encourage and upscale Energy Efficiency Financing in the country. The objective of the Facilitation Centre is to collect willingness forms and spread awareness about BEE’s financing schemes among various beneficiaries, including large industries/DCs under the PAT Scheme of BEE, MSMEs, commercial and institutional buildings, municipalities, corporations, and commercial establishments.

Key objectives of the Facilitation Centre:

  • Spread awareness among stakeholders about EE financing initiatives of BEE
  • Provide a one-stop solution for EE financing in the country
  • Mobilize energy efficiency financing by onboarding financial institutions and beneficiaries on a common platform
  • Provide information on existing EE financing schemes in the country
  • Offer a list of EE technologies
  • Track EE financing across the country

Potential beneficiaries can fill in energy efficiency project-related information in the Willingness Form. These forms will be evaluated by the Facilitation Centre for energy efficiency loans or financing. The Centre may approach potential borrowers/applicants for any shortfall or additional information required to prepare a recommendation report. The Willingness Form, along with the recommendation report, shall be submitted to BEE before forwarding to Financial Institutions (FIs) for further processing. FIs may coordinate directly with potential borrowers for EE financing. The Centre will also track the status of financing with support from concerned FIs.

To achieve its objectives, the Facilitation Centre is working closely with SDAs, municipalities, DISCOMs, and other nodal agencies to organize webinars and workshops. These aim to reach hosts, beneficiaries, and potential borrowers to encourage investment in EE projects.
